On May 20, 1927, Charles A. Lindbergh left Long Island's Roosevelt Field in a single-engine plane built by Ryan Airlines. The plane, named the Spirit of St.

Check the date in the upper left hand corner below.  The fan hit the market at the time of Lindbergh's flight. The boys who marketed Fan-O-Plane announced the ceiling fan late 26 for the 27 season.  When was it first announced Lindbergh would fly across the Atlantic

Mike Kearns Fan-O-Plane post on the old website link below.  One of the big dogs in the incorporation of the company filed patent in Sept. of 26 with a totally different concept than what hit the market in 27.  It doesn't appear Lindberg's flight had anything to do with the conception of Fan-O-Plane. His flight would have definitely help promote Fan-O-Plane.

Another great post, Russ.  I am intrigued by these fans and their use in commercial settings.   Unique as heck , but these are not quiet fans and they move a ton of air.   With these fans running overhead they certainly must have been noticed by customers.

i would have sworn Lindbergh’s flight influenced the design and this fan and the use being in vogue.

Thank you for posting for us.
