If you have to PERMANTLY seal/cover switch Rheostat winding there are some goops that cure hard out there now that will exceed 500-degree F. for roughly a $10.00 bill.

Is J-B Weld ExtremeHeat electrically conductive?

Will J-B Weld conduct electricity? No. J-B Weld is not considered to be a conductor. It is an insulator.

Those items should work well on cast iron. Filling cracks and holes before powder coating.

I am not sure about that, Vic, The powder is attracted to conductive metal.

Yes your right but I think it would work if the part were heated first then sprayed.

I will do some research later. I bet the powder coating industry may have already got that base covered?

Regular JB weld epoxy has a temp. rating of roughly 500 degrees. This stuff i posted is probably overkill, but I was thinking of fan base rheostat resistance wire covering. I was researching a cheap high temp. adhesive for repairing an old heater lamp and came across these examples. I thought I would share.

Has anyone ever tested a 3-speed fan base rheostat temperature on the lowest speed setting? If so, how hot does it get?

Has anyone ever tested a heater lamp peak temperature? Is so, how hot does it get?

I don't have one of them there heat testers.
