Roger Borg Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I'm having trouble getting a good soldering connection onto the male centrifugal switch. Are there any tricks to getting it to hold? I'm guessing my rinky dink soldering iron isn't strong enough to get the plate hot enough, but not sure if there's more to it. Advice on best methods appreciated. ALSO, would be great to have suggestions for a relatively reasonably priced quality soldering iron. Thanks everyone... Quote
Bill Dunlap Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I use liquid soldering flux, no lead 5% silver bearing solder, and a Weller 260\200 professional soldering gun. Works for me. Quote
Stan Adams Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Clean, clean, clean! Make sure all surfaces are clear of oxides or dirt. Then as Bill says, use flux, it should flow with no issues. Quote
Lane Shirey Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I use Wellers analog soldering station. You can get it on Amazon. Then you can regulate the heat depending on the size wire you’re soldering. Quote
Roger Borg Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 Thanks everyone for the insight. Will take another run at it with new tools... Quote
