Ron May Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Before...I made new bearings and replaced the old felt wicking . I wanted a complete restoration so I also rewound the stator and speed coil. After blasting and primer it got a few coats of metal flake. This is where the fun started! 8 1 Quote
Ron May Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 Kind of a 70s chopper style paint job. It's house of kolor candy root beer, candy gold, and some copper leaf. 20230414_182146.mp4 1 Quote
Michael Rathberger Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 That's the bees knees Ron. Wild and classic... 1 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 That is a beautiful and wild restoration! Way to show your abilities on a great canvas! Love the Vornado logo on the top! How many hours do you have into the paint? Quote

I'm glad you noticed the Vornado logo! Quote
Bill Dunlap Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Why do I get the feeling you've painted hot rod bikes in the past? 1 Quote

Geoff Dunaway Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 That is such a work of art that I'd want to not run it for fear of getting it dirty. That's an incredibly wonderful interpretation of the Vornadofan 3 Quote
David A Cherry Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 (edited) Cavalcade of customs back in the 70s had cars galore painted like this.. I wonder where they all are now.. anyway, fantastic job …I used to always admire the paint work back in the 70s.. some of the boats, especially the squirt boats with the big motors would hurt your eyes if you looked at them too long.. I’m thinking thousands of hours was put into them.. Edited April 15, 2023 by David A Cherry 1 Quote

I usually attend the Autorama show in Detroit, I've noticed in the last 4 or 5 years more and more people using candy and metal flake, there were a lot of beautiful cars this year! Quote
Steve Butler Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 That fan should run 200 mph! It’s definitely an awesome hot rod. 1 Quote
Robert Todd Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Cool paint job, Ron. When I saw the design on the very top of the fan, I could have sworn it was a 1946 Chevy. 1 Quote
