Silex purchased the Chicago Electric Mfg. Co. in 1953. Procter and Schwartz merged with Silex in 1960 to form the Procter-Silex corp. That puts that box fan between 53 and 60. Being the mid 50s came out with a number of cool reversable box fans, that is where I would place my bet.

the motor looks like  a takeoff of the cheslea/hoover motor and the blade wings look chelsea but the shape of the blade mounts to the hub is definitley not a cheslea design....hmmmm curiouser and curiouser ..i wouldnt mind having it but i sure dont need any more ! ...did you buy it ?
