Larry Hancock Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 About 18 years ago I bought this fan off Ebay. It is an odd duck. I posted on the old forum then and a few of you replied. Fast forward a few years and I sold it. I regretted selling it frequently and just recently bought it back. The thought at the time was that the base looked like an R&M, which it no doubt does, but a few things make it seem unlikely. 1 the similar R&M base would have been from a fan in the 20's but this Emerson is from 1940-41. There are also differences in the R&M base such as the line cord hole and the head wire hole are much further apart and the neck portion where it joins the motor is smaller than that of an R&M. The other production information on this fan from Emerson says it is a desk fan, not a wall mount like many of these government model motors were. In addition if you look at the inside of the base there are tell tell signs that it is factory because the switch arm is made perfectly for this base. The switch also is Emerson and is made to fit in this base. So if you have one like this fan please post it here. Love this minutia. Terry Fisher Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 That's a neat fan. Interesting that Emerson would put those variations in that fan. 1 Quote
Stan Adams Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 We have a DC one at the ship with that blade & cage, but can't remember what base it had. For the next couple of years everything is in storage, so no way to tell. 1 Quote
