Original Hunter 25606 cleaning and wiring

This post is to help anyone who is rebuilding, cleaning, repairing an Original Hunter model 25606 fan motor. I do not cover the basics, how to unscrew.

This is for you if you:

forgot your bearing stack order

need to remove/reinstall the reverse switch

Or someone miswired your motor or pulled all the wires

DID NOT TAKE "BEFORE" PICTURES OF YOUR WIRING, TOOK THINGS APART and forgot... big no-no and finger wag bit this should help.

Note: to remove the oil reservoir/wire holder turn CLOCKWISE.

You do not need to sacrifice your reverse switch, carefully lift out the "L" bracket on top of the switch, it slides up.

Also note the gray wire snipped with no lead, this is for the light, if none leave unattached or better yet, capped.

Another thought, the SPEED SWITCH WIRES ARE PUSH FIT.  You can remove the wires safely by pushing a thin needle into the wire holes to release the grip, or twist the wire around while gently pulling, not the most recommended practice as it may slightly damage the gripper or score wires but it works and I do it...  All this being said, you can completely remove all items in the wire housing safely without significant damage.

I recommend if you went this far to thoroughly clean the oil spirals, clean, scrub and soak the bearings in petrol/gas, clean and scrub the oil tub and may as well clean your rotor + top oil reservoir.  I am a bit of a perfectionist but I would like this fan to last 100yr more.

I have found that those reverse switches typically don't like to go back together after the wires are removed. We usually snip them and reattach outside the switch.

Good to know on the reverse switch, I had no difficulty with a secure grab after getting the wires out.  I usually twist back and forth while pulling so it zig zags its way out of the grip without bending the grab edge but may be an issue on both the pullchain switch and reverse switch if not careful.  Just outlining my process on connectors of this type.

Might be my technique, because I don't work on those new fans much. But they always seemed to work loose later.
