Cole Day
Is this an old exhaust fan over the shower stall? And if so what brand? I've never seen one like this. It sure is big! This is in a house built in the 1910s, although I'd guess the bathroom is 60s/70s.
Tom Zapf
THAT LOOKS LIKE AN EXTERIOR VENT YOU WOULD PUT ON THE OUTSIDE AT THE PEAK F YOUR ROOF
Cole Day
Yes it does in a way, it is very interesting whatever it is. I'd like to know what's behind that cover, and where it vents to.
Levi Mevis
Some institutions (such as hotels) and houses that had bathrooms that were on inside walls would sometimes have a big ventilation fan on the roof that would be ducted to the bathroom(s) and they would often times have a vent like the one pictured in your photo to cover the duct work to said fan, and the fan would be wired up so that it would switch on whenever you turned on the lights in said bathroom, and doing it that way would give your bathroom proper ventilation it needed without the excessive noise of having a fan physically in the room venting outside. Tom Zapf
IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A VENT FOR THE GABLE END OF THE HOUSE THAT SOMEONE CUT THE TOP OFF OF. AS LEVI SAID MANY MULTI FAMILY BUILDINGS AND HOTELS HAD A FAN THAT FAN CONSTANTLY DRAWING THROUGH DUCTWORK.. THERE MIGHTS NOT BE ANYTHING BEHIND IT
