Brady Folsted
Who here has run into a sealed gear box....? I believe something is stripped and broken inside. Any tips or tricks to open it up?
Dave McManaman
Is that off a peerless or colonial front oscillator fan?
Nicholas Denney
No, it's a Westinghouse continuous oscillator. You have to pry off the round cover. Dribble penetrant around it, get it warm with a hairdryer, pull on it with duct tape. NO TORCH
Brady Folsted
Nicholas denney, thank you for the tips. It is off a westinghouse/Cardinal.
Nicholas Denney
Alternately you can blow into the bearing, that can pop off some of the covers that are more on the loose side.
