Daniel Herczeg Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I was visiting some family in Pennsylvania this weekend, and a neighbor gave me this fan. He said that he got it for “next to nothing” from “a guy”, but it’s in near perfect condition, the only issues it has being a dented grille, a small chip in the paint, and very little oil. 1 Quote
Steve Butler Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Nothing beats getting a clean little fan for the price marked on the badge! Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 I’m not sure what you count as “little”, but that’s actually a 10 inch fan. Quote

There isn't a wrinkle in any of the wings. The fan would clean up very nice. wrap two/three fingers around the inside of the wire bend and carefully pull it out back into shape. Quote
James Lawson Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Looks like a very low mileage fan. Although I've never particularly cared for the Zero fans, I wouldn't turn one this nice down, especially for free. Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 I think I’ve learned that lesson too. Both this desk fan and my Zero box fan have this odd motor noise that sounds almost like a low-pitch steel drum. Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Here is some footage of it running. Lighting is thanks to a manual-start fluorescent car light I got. IMG_1844.MOV 1 Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 I opened the fan to try to investigate why the motor got extremely hot with only a few minutes of operation. I didn’t find anything, but that’s a pretty good looking motor! Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 It just occurred to me how nice the inside of my fan is. I don't think paper tape holds up that well, and the twine isn't frayed or weak at all. The wire caps, which I believe to be original, aren't cracked or worn, and the inside of the fan isn't very greasy or even very dusty. Quote
Christian Kasprzyk Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 I just brought a ZERO home for my friend’s mom who wanted an old fan. Said I would get it since I know values and I could get it for basically nothing. Anyways, I discovered the same thing with it, it runs pretty hot after a short time. I think it just has to do with these being pretty cheap fans. These were in literally no means the best at all. Quote
