John Landstrom Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 So were the early cars. Just watching someone try to use a crank to start their antique car was difficult, but it got easier over time…. Quote
James Lawson Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 I never saw a crank-operated fan before. Did these have a spring motor in them like a phonograph? Quote

John Landstrom Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) Good eye Jim !! However, you’re a generation off. That’s actually his grandmother Catherine Straus. She once wrote an article entitled “My grandson, a monkey”. She enjoyed motor cars, dancing at speakeasy’s, and was known to tell off color jokes at formal dinner parties! Peter Tork ( born Peter Halsten Thorkelson ) was hired by a TV network to be part of a ‘60’s “made for TV” band called The Monkees. Admittedly one of my favorite bands during my youth. In spite of the band being dismissed by the “music industry” and accused of not actually playing their instruments (which they actually did) the band became a sensation. I’ll I can say is I’m a Believer !! **Most of the above info was gained through a google search and the authors have my apologies for not giving them credit but I can’t find the page. The rest is the absolute truth. Or maybe not….. Edited May 23, 2024 by John Landstrom Quote
Frank McCormack Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 That pic is too old for Peter. Might actually be Prince Valiant Quote
