RE: Help. GE 16” Vortalex desk model (1938-1941) – Cat. # 49x936 (AC)

Looking for help. Recently had speed coil rewound by Cal Coil Tech in South El Monte, CA. Cost me $240.

Stan Adams conveyed to me there are folks here who could have helped for a lower cost.

Hoping there is someone who might be able to assist with motor repair/rewind. Many thanks.

FWIW........There are people here that can rewind coils and motors for you. They will be more reasonable than a motor or electrical shop who has bigger industrial grade projects, or in better words, bigger fish to fry.  Your fan and what it means to you personally is just that, personal. If you want to dump hundreds into repairing a fan beyond your purchase price, it's your fan. You can also look into the realistic potential value and rarity of your fan. Or another way of looking at it is if you were to sell it, how much would it sell for vs. what you have vested into it.

Your fan is not every day common to find, yet, if you take your category number and add GE to that, enter it into the google search engine, you may find it is not rare. If you are patient, you could find another just like it in rough cosmetic shape to obtain the parts you seek. Patience is a virtue and can save you a lot of money.
