Andrew Cook Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Good day! I’m curious if someone could help point me to some directions on how best to oil an “oil-less” motor. I have oiled an older general electric box fan - I’m thinking the process might be the same.but I’m not entirely sure if it is or not. Pictures attached of the fans. Anthony Lindsey Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 I believe that little white notch above the rotor shaft is the oil hole on the White Lakewood motor. 1 Quote
Andrew Cook Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 Thanks, Anthony! What is your thought on getting it into the Westinghouse motor without the oiler ports? I was thinking about doing it the same way you oil a GE box fan, but it would appear that rear cover plate is thicker than what you would find on a GE. Quote
Anthony Lindsey Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 what is the white bump/notch at the 9 oclock position in the picture of the westinghouse motor? Is that an oil port? Can you take a picture from on top of the notch? Quote
Tom Zapf Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 THE MCMILLAN MOTORS HAVE THE LITTLE OIL SPOUT ON EACH END CAP ABOVE THE SHAFT . YOU USUALLY HAVE TO OPEN THAT UP A LITTLE SOMETIMES THE SPOUT IS TIGHT OR HAS PAINT OVER IT AND YOUR OILING DRIPS DOWN THE OUTSIDE THE WESTINGHOUSE MOTOR NEEDS TO BE TAKEN APART AND THE OIL RESEVOIR GETS REFILLED FROM THE INSIDE. ONCE APART YOU CAN SEE THE WICKING IN THE HOUSING GOOD LUCK WITH THEM ! Quote
Andrew Cook Posted July 18, 2024 Author Posted July 18, 2024 Thanks Tom, Anthony. Both motors are now oiled and running well. Quote
