John Landstrom
Yup ! It’s me again ! Electrically challenged and not sure what will work for my application. Kind of a special project Starting point is a small GE motor (pictured below). Don’t know what model fan it was on originally, but I have the cage w/GE badge and 8” blade for it. Absolutely no “motor tag” or base tag identification for it. It has 2 head wires and measures 3.5” in diameter. I’m looking for something similar in size to the 12v models used in RV’s and such. I’m trying to match the look of the one below. Panel mount is best for my design concept. I want things very low profile. Any help is appreciated. Daniel Herczeg
If you are looking to imitate the original switch, it was just a basic on/off toggle.
John Landstrom
Nope, looking to be able to vary the speed of the fan. And the application calls for small switch, not a clunky wall switch.

And the application calls for small switch, not a clunky wall switch. There are two possible problems with this. 1. May not have room for any capacitor or coil assembly within base if found one. 2. Reduced wattage may leave this fan buzzing/humming.
Jim Kovar
If only "they" could shrink down the size of a VFD to the size of a sugar cube!

I have attached the motor to my Variac and no buzzing with reduced power. I’m looking for a small “dimmer/speed switch” that works the same way. I just don’t know what would be appropriate for the application. Too many confusing three letter options for types of controllers for me to understand what would work. Is this something that would work? What is it. If it’s a “funny” then……”you got me”…..!
