Edward Kowalke Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 This arrived in the mail today. An early Hunter 12" BB/BC BMY. No. 29143. It is missing 2 cage clips and the rear bearing cap. One or two bends in the blades but I think I have a nice correct blade for it. Cage needs some (A lot of) work and I am hoping the rear ring can be straightened without breaking, It is cracked in at least one of the hole locations. Quote
Anthony Lindsey Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 not sure that is a BMY cage. It has a square back ring. Quote
Michael Rathberger Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I think Hunter used their own cage on those and it's correct. I could be mistaken but a GE bearing cap may have been on those as well. Nice fan, uncommon configuration. Quote
Edward Kowalke Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 Chad from Antique fan parts has one online for sale. Has a plain rear cap and the same cage. Only difference I see is the blades rivets, 2 vs. 3 per wing. It is restored so something may have been altered. Quote

Edward Kowalke Posted September 5, 2024 Author Posted September 5, 2024 disassembled the cage. 6 of the 8 wires were broken off and someone just hammered them into the holes without reducing the end diameter. Surprised it was only cracked in one location. Time to get out the torch and see if I can turn the wavy egg shape back into a flat circle. I expected the wires to have been soldered into the back ring but I do not see any sign of that. Quote
Doug Wendel Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Hunter used the same cage design as Diehl during that period. 1 Quote
Edward Kowalke Posted September 8, 2024 Author Posted September 8, 2024 I now have a round cage in one piece. 3 Quote
Edward Kowalke Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 After 5+ weeks of the stator sitting on the bench and me not looking forward to the delicate lead repair/headwire replacement I decided to tackle it today. Fan runs well on all 3 speeds. I just need a blank (or a custom HE script) brass bearing cap/cover for the rear. I could put a GE one on and nobody would ever notice. 1 Quote
