Patrick Ray Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 (edited) Got this a couple years back and it's been in pieces for a while. Finally got it all back together! The bullet was pretty dented up as they typically are. Had to hammer those out then sand it smooth. Paint was Rust-Oleum Burnished Amber. Left the original paint on the motor but repainted the rest. Cage was pretty bent up from a fall sometimes in its life. But he it is all back together and running! Edited September 9, 2024 by Patrick Ray 11 Quote

Patrick Ray Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 That's about how mine looked before I started. Quote
Michael Bouthiller Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I kept mine as original as possible because it had amazing paint when I got it Quote

Daniel Herczeg Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Very nice! I like the design of the Silver Swan fans, they remind me of princess-style landline telephones due to how the base is shaped. 1 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Hey @Michael Bouthiller turn your front grille 45 degrees. The bars on the grill will line up with the bars on the rest of the cage. Quote
Michael Bouthiller Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 I remember seeing a Swan in the collector’s guide to electric fans and the guard was 45 degrees so I got inspired to do the same thing And thanks for the advice Quote

Dave McManaman Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Really nice job Patrick. That rear dome is quite impressive. I’d have no clue it was dented. Mine is in parts but you’ve inspired me to get back on it! 1 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 @Dave McManaman Break out your Swan Dave! Hopefully your back cone isn't all dented up. But if it is, I just turned those inward dents into little outward dents. I used the butt end of a screwdriver to push out the bulk of the dent then hammered outward the minor dents. Using an orbital sander, starting with 200 grit, I sanded the new outward dents away until all is smooth. Then sanded all the way to 3k grit then polished. It's a bit of work but I'm pleased. 1 Quote
