Christian Kasprzyk Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 So heres one I would love to figure out more info on. This is an Emerson variable speed hassock fan with a faux leather finish. A few years ago, I saw this in a group of like 5 hassock fans. I could have got 3 for the price of this one but this one was by far the coolest and in the best shape. I also cannot find another one just like it. I assume it is from the late 1960’s or 1970’s. Emerson always made great stuff and this was no exception. By far the nicest hassock I have seen. Cant wait to hear what you all have to say about this one! Quote
Daniel Herczeg Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Seems nice! I've seen one or two for sale at various antique stores, and they seem nice, but I do worry about how easily they can be repaired. Quote
Christian Kasprzyk Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Thank you! They should be relatively easy to service. There are some screws on the base that make everything inside accessible. Luckily this one should not be needing that anyways. Quote
Tom Zapf Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 I HAVE HAD AN AQUA EMERSON FROM AROUND 1958 AND THIS HAS A SIMILAR IF NOT MORE MODERN DESIGN. VARIABLE SPEED IS RARE. MY GUESS IS THAT THIS WOULD BE EARLY 1960'S AS EMERSON REALLY STEPPED BACK FROM HOUSEHOLD FANS IN THE LATE 1950'S. PLUS THE INFORMATION STAMP ON THE MOTOR HAS NOT POSTAL ZIP CODE WHICH USUALLY IS PRIOR TO 1963 THERABOUTS. THE 1950S VERSIONS ALL SEEM TO BE PAINTED , THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE PANEL LINED EXECUTIVE'S OFFICE AND THE LEATHERETTE FINISH WAS MEANT TO MAKE IT BLEND IN...HMMMM...DEFINITELY NOT 1970S...THERE IS NO PLASTIC THAT I CAN SEE Quote
Christian Kasprzyk Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 Early 60s definitely sounds about right. I was given the time frame previously mentioned by a couple people but they had never seen one so it was a bit of a mystery. I can imagine not as many of these were made and sold as some of the others. Quote
