Brandon Osborn Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I picked this up for $40 this weekend. Hoping it was a decent deal. The motor works but the fan isn’t spinning so I plan to do some work on it but cannot find any info. Do any of you know anything about this fan in regards to where I can find a manual or wiring diagram? It looks like it’s a Westinghouse style no. 13814C4 but it’s hard to read (pic attached). Any advice is appreciated. I’m new to restoring fans, but have always had interest in them. Quote
Michael Bouthiller Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 That’s a Westinghouse model 12-LA Quote
Tim Babcock Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 $40 is a bit high for this fan in this shape. These are good fans, but I would only give about $15 for it. They are not too bad to work on. But the clam shell motor head. is a bit of a pain. Very simple wiring, some have a capacitor in them and it can be replaced with a new one. I don't know if anyone makes a repop for the label bar. Its a thin aluminum label. There are 4 screws on the bottom of the head and then 2 plates and springs that hold the bearings in place. The cage comes off after the head is apart and. you have to bend just a bit to get it out. The one thing I have found on these that can go out is the oscillating gear. Its nylon or some type of plastic. Quote
Geoff Dunaway Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Brandon, if U R interested in fans , U should make it a point to watch for details about a regional fan meet held in early October on the shores of Lake Houston. That event, at the home of Stan & JeriAnn Adams would definitely feed your interest and give you a lot of information from seasoned collectors. It's too close to miss out on. Quote
Bobby Gaines Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 The 23rd annual Lake Houston Fan Meet will be October 4-5. Hopefully no more hurricanes between now & then. Hope to see you at the lake! Its always Great! Quote
