Heads up for the auction where I bought my fans from has a GE coin op fan for auction

I'm on the last third there George, the grim reapers around every corner now. Aside from that, complaining about being hung seems an odd saying to me.

Have picked up several unique fans from the less searched platforms. Many watched for weeks prior to bidding. If someone made public an obscure listing that I was after then they would find that I would never be of any assistance to them.

I got a secret,
            I got a secret,
and I'm going to
            it tell everyone.

I sure hope most of us here
have outgrown this type of
childish behavior.

It's kind of funny, no matter how many times this is debated it goes the exact same way. I will say Jim is a real gentleman when it comes to posting auctions, always happy for the buyer, always post hammer. He never complains either if he didn't win a fan, excepting the occasions when it gets exposed here.

That said, I'm still surprised no one here knows the meanings of hanged and hung. If you have to explain a joke it's not funny...

the origin of the phrase: "He'd complain even if you hung him with a new rope!", obviously referring to someone who is a constant whiner... someone who is never satisfied.  I have heard this in one form or another since the 1960s. Shot with a gold bullet, gold rope, new rope. Hanged and hung is not the point of the old saying. I don't think introducing grammar to old folk sayings really works.  Three sheets to the wind, the writing is on the wall, crocodile tears, cross the Rubicon, a stitch in time saves nine, at the drop of a hat, bite the bullet, break the ice, the whole 9 yards [one of my fav] From WW1 where 9 yards of machine gun belt was put into the biplane fighters. If you shot till empty you used the whole 9 yards. Another one is Hat in the ring. Comes from when fighters would wait for a by stander to toss their hat in the ring to say I will have a go. It was picked up by the USA as a motto for WW1, this is why on many US biplanes you see a ring with an uncle Sam hat going inside it.

Everyone knows what it means when it's said. I'm a grammar idiot, trust me. Every once in awhile though, you can have a little fun.
