Jim Kovar Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Some second-hand desk fans I'd like to find at a second-hand thrift store. Quote
Patrick Ray Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Darn, I ain't got the extra 2 quarters to splurge on the 1510. Guess I'll have to settle on the EI-2 😕 Quote

If I had an E.I.2,... I'd sell it. * * And buy a Walmart Lasko fan. At least it'd be able to run on house current. 1 Quote

Jim Kovar Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Even adjusted for inflation, I'd be all over the E.I. 2. Quote

Or I see prices for a variable frequency drive (VFD) online are coming down significantly from the past. 🙂 Quote

Thanks... Quote

Specifically, how does cutting voltage input in half make it safe to run a 133hz motor on 60hz household power frequency? Quote

The high frequency motor will operate on half intended voltage, but not efficiently. A (V).ariable (F).requency (D).rive will match the intended frequency to operate a high or low frequency fan motor. Quote

Thanks... BTW....I just posted the electrical trade information copied and pasted in the above post this year not long ago on the forum, and in the past on the old website forum. I have been hoping that someone young in the organization would take interest in fan motor history like I did following Loren Haroldson. The AFCA made a wise move salvaging what was possible from the old website in the provided search feature. It may be all that is left to help members validate fan motor history and finds in the not-too-distant future. 1 1 Quote

I certainly have an interest in the HOW of things, and enjoy learning as much as I can in response to posts, and am glad that it all gets documented for others to review if helpful now or down the road...
