Bobby Gaines Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 When did GE start painting the background on their motor tags and badges? Pictured 8" GE not all brass. Quote
Paul Michael Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 You men when they switched from an oxide finish to paint? I don't know exactly. That's a good question for Kim Frank! Quote
Steve Stephens Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 1915 models were the first to have the cage badge background blackened. Prior to that most of the GE brass was finished in a "dipped and lacquered" finish, (not polished) Quote
Bobby Gaines Posted July 27, 2023 Author Posted July 27, 2023 Thank You Steve for that information ! Quote
Russ Huber Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Go for it, Bobby. When you have embossed letters and numbers like that tag, painting background and removing the paint from the raised areas is a cake walk. I just got done with an Emerson teens long tag with little to no raised areas. A magnifying light, sharp tip exact-o, and I said my prayers before I went at it. 🙂 Quote
