Paul Michael Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Yes, 110 V universal 'ball' clamshell motor. It's missing the thin stamped brass tab-held badge. Nice fan. I like these. Quote
Paul Michael Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 You can see the seam where the front and rear half meet: Quote
Patrick Ray Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 I'm not sure if all of the Clamshell fans came with a cage badge from the factory. Maybe if @Russ Huber can shed some light on what model years came with a cage badge. I've had a handful of them through my hands and I think I've only had one with the cage badge. Quote

I LOVE when Dr. Russ chimes in! #REALHISTORY! But—those badges fall off real easy! 😉 🙃 Quote

Russ Huber Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 The badge appears in electrical trade in 17. Typically, if the clamshell has grease cups, it has or had a badge. The grease screw downs over the bearings with the exposed brush holders are the early bird clamshells. The Clamshell hit the market in 16. 1 Quote
Jim Kovar Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Both offered in 1916... Do ya think there's 4 bits of difference in quality between 'em? p.s. Yeah, yeah,... I know,... the baby bear is cute! Quote
Steven P Dempsey Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 So do top mounted cups use oil or grease ? Quote
