Seth Anderson Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Working on restoring a silver swan. The motor was making some awful noises and after checking the insulation with a megger, I determined it needed to be rewound. Rewound the motor like I found it - 28 gauge with 275 wraps/coil and I'm still getting crazy noise and very high amp draw. My thoughts are either A) the rotor is somehow messed up, but as far as I can see there's no obvious damage to it or B) someone swapped motors and the rotor/stator are incorrectly paired. Thoughts? Unfortunately I don't have a growler to test the rotor with. But I know that the stator is at least wound correctly and that there's not a flipped coil or anything like that.
