R&M 1604a to the rescue!

Late Saturday night, the central air went out at the house and by Sunday morning, it was getting a tad warm inside, so the R&M came in from the garage for the first time ever to perform its duties. It ran 12 hours straight on Sunday, 16 hours straight yesterday and about 4 hours this morning before the crew installed the new a/c unit. It ran perfectly, oscillating all the while, but sporting bent and crumpled blades which I officially stopped "adjusting" at the 13th hour -not at the 40 hours I predicted. In the garage on the folding plastic table, the unbalanced fan blades would vibrate the cage pretty good when reaching the ends of its oscillations, or vibrate when placed on different sections of the table, usually making a light ticking noise after the 3rd hour or so, which could be stopped by gently rapping the palm against the backside of the motor housing. Running it inside the house on a solid table showed a vast improvement in operation. ZERO cage rattle and excellent air movement is what that fan is all about! I am really pleased with it!!! My sister stated that "this is the most amazing fan I've ever seen!" She NEVER gets excited over this sort of thing! I think she wants one!!! ;)

Incidentally, I have this condensor fan motor, blade and capacitor which I had installed only 3 months ago on the old a/c unit (at MY cost of over $300) which I will bring to Lake Houston meet this Saturday, if anyone wants it, they can have it. might be good as an exhaust fan, or whatever... Even though the R&M ran beautifully, I will still be looking for a fan/hub assembly & switch for it,20231003_203125.thumb.jpg.39be80995d632f2c11cc94ed75264728.jpg and a variac I will definitely purchase, if any are available.
