GE Badge Restoration

What method do you use to restore a GE badge?

I have removed the old paint on mine and polished it up. I was planning on painting it with Rustoleum Charleston Green, lightly sanding off the paint on the raised surfaces, then spraying the whole thing with a gloss clear coat. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a clever way to do this I didn’t know about!

That sounds right.  A few vey light coats with dry time in between (oven is helpful) will be better than one thick gloppy one.  The sanding, polish, and clear will smooth and brighten everything out.

What grit increments do you typically use?

Keep the paint thin.  I use the edge of a wooden popsicle stick/utility stick to scrape off the thin paint on the raised areas as much as possible.  Then maybe some 400 or 600 grit to clean things up.  If you use lacquer for the color coat it dries faster than enamel and is also easier to touch up areas if needed.  Also it doesn't react when you top coat with lacquer.
