Tim Babcock
Capacitor for 16 inch Westinghouse power air. I have one of the tuna can caps under the base. Its marked 3MDF 220V. Do I just match this when looking for a replacement?
Andrew Block
I usually use 2.8 or 2.5mfd in those, 330v or higher. A lower cap will give you more speed variation, but sometimes they want 3uf right on the money. The voltage rating is the max amount, so higher is better.

Tim Babcock
one of the wires came off when I was taking the switch out. Not sure where it goes. Anyone have a wiring diagram for this model fan?
Levi Mevis
It depends on if its a "Darth Vader" PowerAire (1933-1946 itteration) or if its the more modern (1947-1966 itteration) of the PowerAire because they were wired up differently because of a different switch/capacitor/headwire arrangement.
