R & M 3000 universal motor DC voltage is...

Finally got this 9 inch to run well on AC... so wanted to see how it would run on DC but I have no real idea what the voltage should be or how to supply it readily. Any thoughts would be appreciated, and anyone with parts please see me in the WTB shortly

You need a FULL WAVE BRIDGE RECTIFIER inline to your switch to obtain DC current from your AC wall plug in.  Polarity with either AC or DC prongs on the rectifier is not important. The AC goes in and is rectified, the DC goes out to your switch.  You can hide the rectifier in your base.

4 amp 1000 watt is well into the safe zone for a desk fan. Enjoy your toy!

Thank you Russ, I'll just pop by Radio Shack and buy a few!

You are the guy to ask this but also for anyone else tuning in... the brush holders I have are each different, one looks like smooth copper and the other is copper colored, threaded, but looks like it has a coating on it. I've been bitten by one of these already and wonder if either are right for the fan???
