Bejon A. Boranian Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 ...Well, it's a new year: And... One of my vintage fans bit the dust. It was torn apart with honors and added to my parts/ scrap/ building materials. Here's what I used it for: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted January 13, 2024 Author Posted January 13, 2024 ...Specifically, the base plate proved useful for a quick test: Make the "VIM" badge from a drawing I did awhile ago. "VIM: stands for the Ventilation Ironworks Manufacturing" 2 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted January 13, 2024 Author Posted January 13, 2024 ...Utilizing a different size cup, results in a smaller type dome cap badge. (Cups give it the dome effect.) All it needs is JB weld reinforcement and it will be stable enough for painting and detail work. Perhaps sinking a small screw inside for easy bolt on application to a cage...? 🤔💡 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 ...This VIM fan would be an interesting build: This is their "Bird" model: 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 ...also want to build this one: 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 ...Further tests on plastic waste shows some ideas: 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 ...Build: 2 endcaps of plastic needed, (the plastic will serve as its own electrical insulator) Vented, Use of a 12 volt battery holder or 9 volt battery applicable. Trunnion mount tilt feature and infinite speed module to be added. Will be about 60% metal, 40% plastic/other materials. PICS of build in it's early stage: 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 12, 2024 Author Posted June 12, 2024 ...Recent developments: These 2 "slag" (plastic) bases I made. Pressure tested, both actually are broken... (Cracked under extreme pressure). ...experimental bases I have subjected to many heat and cold tests from microwaving to pouring/soak in boiling water, then freezing. Both are currently reinforced with a screw plus hidden bolt design. I need to get that "Vidrio" formula just right-! 😵 Seen are some PICS and a UV light test on the most "reactive" one. ... It "glows" a lime green color with lots of swirls when viewed in-person. On camera, it seems more blue. 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 12, 2024 Author Posted June 12, 2024 ...Now in a different view: (Achieved via a camera color setting, you can just make out those "swirls" patterns.) Kinda looks like art. 🤔 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 ...It was recently mentioned that a "GE Vidrio" exists. Yes, even if in "Frankenstein" form... Still, it got me thinking... Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 ...eh, Why not? GE/Vidrio: Raw base at this moment... Uses a new "mould" that comes from old brassware. Finished fan to look similar to GE's 6" Series fans, but branded VIDRIO. Or, combining of the 2 brands into one badge should be a fun looking result. 🤔💡 1 Quote

Thanks, ...a bit more progress on these this morning: Milled down the tops, to accept an adjustable neck/ motor assembly. PICS: I never know quite how each base will turn out, so each one made has different designs/patterns and imperfections that make it unique. 😎 (The "cracks" on the second one are formed in, surface only.) Different lighting brings out different colors. Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 13, 2024 Author Posted July 13, 2024 ...small update: Proposed blade set: Run Test at 80% capacity 9-volt. Video: VID_20240712_180645.3gp 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 13, 2024 Author Posted July 13, 2024 ...I aim to push the limits of what can be done with plastic waste: (And other waste/refuse product). Shown: -The GE/Vidrio slag series. -GE 4 blade, larger type, non-unibody. ... -6 blade type, oscillator, trunnion, and non-osc. Versions (in the works)... ...Not shown...yet. PICS thus far: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 ...Developments: ...Long ago, I started my "Emerson" badges, They were only aluminum foil at the time with no fill... Equipping them proved difficult... Well, fast forward to today-! PICS: Use of JB weld has given me 2 NEW Master Copies. These are Emerson blank test badges, however... ...I mis-stamped one with an interesting result. ... Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 EmerSON -And- "EmerSHE" Rare mis-stamp Error badge Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 ...One can: yields many parts; ...time to go back in time! Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 ...An old idea? ...gets a Fresh design? ... ...A look into a different type of "little Giant" fan (formerly known as mini Jumbo) 2 types shown, or rather, proposed... This type of fan carries most of the weight low, and centered. Result? 'Huge' fan that sits on minimal base. Battery door and "cabinet" built into base (on applicable type). Twin bearing system, for belt drive's larger blade pulley. Cage optional. PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 ...? I'm starting to "see" fan ideas wherever I go... 1 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 ...TESLA My 1st ever attempt: "spider" 8 point vent/ motor "endbell" assembly... PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 ...With some imagination, the Design becomes clear: Building a TESLA ...out of refuse/ garbage/ scrap material. Last PIC: a concept realization at where the plastic structure will integrate with the metal parts. (I'm not quite an artist, but am a builder). 🤔 💡 Metal -and- plastic to be used together on this one. 1 Quote
