Patrick Ray
Got all the parts together for this 12" Dayton. Was the usual busted knuckle when I got this fan. Thanks to Seth for making the knuckle assembly and oscillator arm. Thanks to Anthony Lindsey for sending Seth the specs for the arm. And thanks to Russ for getting me the oscillator screw details. Runs very nicely for a fan that hasn't had a service in who knows how long. And now this fan is ready to go into the queue to be torn down and restored!
Russ Huber
Patrick, FWIW....I too received one of Seth's pivots. They are very nice. I had to do some slight modification with a Dremel grinding bit going around in uniform circular fashion inside where the ball bearing is supposed to seat. I see yours is a bit snug and not seating properly. I just kept going around in circles and testing the bearing seating until finally it snug seated in properly. Patrick Ray
Much appreciated Russ! Wasn't sure if it sat fully down into the recess, but I'll bust out the Dremel and get it down in there. Is there a common bearing that can be used as a replacement? Mine still pivots without being tight, but I do feel a spot in there that isn't smooth. Russ Huber
In my area there is a bearing shop pictured here. I am sure in your neck of the woods there are numbers of them. You can make it easy on yourself and pop in with your bearing. They have skilled people working the counter to take measurements of your bearing and find a match. Typically, they will have to order it if it is an oddball. My fan head has some wobble as well, but not significant. 1
