Dave Hoatson
I found several interesting Westinghouse patents: US1222512.pdf1046834.pdf I was looking for the patent on the rather unique windings used in the sidewinder ceiling fans. Can anyone explain this to me?: The nameplate shows patent dates. I found some, but not all: I found this reference that did not match all the patents: http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=3213&tab=
Dave Hoatson
On a similar topic, how does this Westinghouse Sidewinder start in the desired direction? It has no shaded poles and has a 2-wire connection. Marelli ceiling fans are very similar to this.

I beg to differ, there does indeed appear to be shade windings, very similar to those in the first photos you posted. Here again, I may be completely wrong and anticipate any explanation. Jim Kovar
Hi, David. Is that CF reversible?
Russ Huber
No reverse "Baby" Westies. Electrical trade referenced them as "Baby". Fact Jack.
Russ Huber
23 and 25 micro dates. "Baby" 32" Westies were on the market for a long haul. They hit the market in 12. They used them in entry ways for pest control, narrow hallways, etc. Edited February 29 by Russ Huber
Russ Huber
Never looked into the patents. Maybe later on.
Steve Rockwell
Can't quite make out that serial number xx70678 David... And these patent attributions below aren't at all specific to or necessarily even relevant to ceiling fans. If attributions are correct, it seems as if it's just sort of a generic tag for Westinghouse output... US1123319 is a lot closer to being pertinent... I too have a shortage of Westinghouse patents listed... Edited February 29 by Steve Rockwell
