Steve Rockwell Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 This image is the one that started the whole series, a fan which I was researching, of which I located a pic which led to the other photos. In cases where the fan isn’t so hard to name or just too distinctive in appearance, I’ll likely post just a partial image to make the task a bit more of a challenge… Images courtesy of miSci The Museum of Innovation and Science Schenectady NY Quote
Jim Kovar Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 (edited) Wow, Steve, is this one going to be the stump-all? Thumbed through my "Antique Mechanical Fans" book and didn't even find a maybe. Next will be, the two volume, "American Fan Patents" books. And if that fails, plan three, "The Evolution of Electromechanical Engineering." Edited June 5, 2022 by Jim Kovar Quote
Steve Rockwell Posted June 6, 2022 Author Posted June 6, 2022 No takers? Once I post the other excerpts, I know there will be recognition even without the entire image... This probably doesn't amount to much of a tip, but it was the designer/inventor that most interested me, though the manufacturer... also someone to reckon with. In the past I questioned whether the attribution was correct, but have since learned positively, no doubt about the designer and the time frame... Photo 7 Feb 1893. Example(s) exist..... 1 Quote

Steve Rockwell Posted June 7, 2022 Author Posted June 7, 2022 Zoom out a click or two, and all I think we're seeing is a thumb screw... But are you perhaps thinking what those marks are, same as me? (They won't show in the photo) Quote
