Identify the Fan No. 15

Steve Rockwell

Recommended Posts

        This image is the one that started the whole series, a fan which I was researching, of which I located a pic which led to the other photos.

        In cases where the fan isn’t so hard to name or just too distinctive in appearance, I’ll likely post just a partial image to make the task a bit more of a challenge…

Wow, Steve, is this one going to be the stump-all?  wondering.gif.d5ced3f09ae6ff8cbdc2d21fa476a589.gif

Thumbed through my "Antique Mechanical Fans" book and didn't even find a maybe.  mad.gif.daa5141a2327ae8598ecbafa73e40cc3.gif

Next will be, the two volume, "American Fan Patents" books.  Thumbup.gif.20ecf9b989946c9826f9b02e25243259.gif

And if that fails, plan three, "The Evolution of Electromechanical Engineering."  shock.gif.6618226041d0ea9c2d2107beb7266a8f.gif

        No takers? Once I post the other excerpts, I know there will be recognition even without the entire image...

  This probably doesn't amount to much of a tip, but it was the designer/inventor that most interested me, though the manufacturer... also someone to reckon with. In the past I questioned whether the attribution was correct, but have since learned positively, no doubt about the designer and the time frame...  Photo 7 Feb 1893.      Example(s) exist.....

        Zoom out a click or two, and all I think we're seeing is a thumb screw...

 But are you perhaps thinking what those marks are, same as me? (They won't show in the photo)

Pre-SAE bolt grade ID marks?

Common SAE bolt designations.

        Regarding the Dec 1, 1885 patent date (I find no Charles Bradley patent), my list of possibile electrical patents for that date  consists in US331502 for an armature, US331552 for a regulator, or US331726 for a dynamo electric machine, my (unproven) choice.

Yet another great AC thinker
who had a brief stint working
for (and then quitting) Edison.
