Jeff Jones
Yes they are there. As for ohming it out what is the proper test points? Across the male part of the centrifugal switch I have open... from 1 prong of the plug to 1 side of the centrifugal switch I have about 6 ohms...to the other side open. Switching prongs switches the 6 ohm reading to the other half of the centrifugal switch.
Russ Huber
One meter probe contact to one half of the centrifugal switch contact mounted to the back of the motor. The other meter probe to the other opposite half completes the start winding circuit. If this is what you're doing and you are getting an ohm reading, your start winding is probably good.
Russ Huber
If no reading, check your two start winding leads for a disconnect between the centrifugal contact and winding.
Jeff Jones
That's what I thought...I should be getting a reading across the 2 halves if the switch...which I don't. I get open line. Haven't checked connections to the switch yet but the 2 wires appeared to be on at quick look.
