Jim Kovar Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Someone!,... please post a photo of a vane oscillator with an A-B or Jandus badge or motor tag. Or an illustration from a trade journal advert or article that clearly shows the A-B or Jandus moniker. Quote
Russ Huber Posted August 30, 2024 Author Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) 1911 is the only year AB/Jandus makes mention of two classes of oscillation (vane & positive drive) in electrical trade. The Jandus 8" oscillator is first mentioned in early 10 electrical trade, no images ever shown 10+ of the Jandus or AB/Jandus 8" oscillator. 1912 AB/Jandus fan motor offerings in electrical trade do not mention the 8" model or mention of a vane. Russ Huber Posted August 30, 2024 Author Posted August 30, 2024 1909 electrical trade defines the Jandus POSITIVE drive gear mechanism with no mention or comparison to a vane. Quote

Jim Kovar Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) Since I often see the exact same verbiage in articles from multiple different competing trade publications, I am convinced the articles are not written by each publications' whiz team of investigative reporters, but are actually "product press releases," written by the respective manufactures' sale/marketing departments. If A-B Jandus was not referring generically to all oscillating fans' types of oscillation mechanisms, why would they start the below paragraph with the article/adjective "The" and not "Our" or "Jandus"? A lead-in to differentiate what others do (vane) and what they do differently (& better?)... Edited September 1, 2024 by Jim Kovar Quote

Russ Huber Posted August 30, 2024 Author Posted August 30, 2024 Jandus and AB/Jandus and Dayton shared the market in what appears to be at least 2 seasons of 10 and 11 with at least one fan motor. The 8" oscillator with a combination of the Bernard Stowe oscillator patent and the Dayton fan motor frame. That is a valid heads-up Dayton & Jandus were scratching each other's backs to offer a small residence fan motor to compete with other manufacturers. "IF" in fact in 1911 AB/Jandus marketed a vane oscillator, it would not be manufactured by them. AB/Jandus was not tooled to make the vane, or for that matter the little 8" oscillator. AB/Jandus would have marketed the Dayton Shedd vane with an Adams & Bagnall motor tag, if in fact they did market one. Quote
