So, if I got a modern fan speed control and used a half wave diode would I put the diode on one side of the AC line coming into the speed control or after the speed control?

The MODERN fan speed control is designed to run on MODERN AC wall current. Your half-wave diode will be inline AFTER the MODERN AC fan speed control direct to the motor. Think of it in common sense terms of what needs the half-wave diode to slow it down on rectified DC current? The motor needs the diode, not the speed control. Good luck.

Pretty proud of yourself, aren't ja.  The fan attachment and guard were sold separately. Good luck on that one. 🙂

Patience and time provided this one many years ago Russ. I cloned the wire and installed a new correct looking harness.

That's where I got my foot pedal.

So this is what I get on high. I think with a little adjustment it should be closer to spec.PXL_20250106_2342089842.thumb.jpg.4ad9a6e1d785172fedb6a28cef01a049.jpg

Thanks. It's just a cheap unit from Amazon I slapped into a gang box and mounted to a piece of wood I can clamp down where ever I need it. Going to make a cleaner looking one with a 2nd unit. I didn't remember I had them until I saw another member with one and dug into my pile of stuff I "needed" but forgot about.
