I have not located incorporation info for either one. I wonder whether Chicago started as an independent with eventual finance by Backus... Backus was producing fans under his own name at least by shortly after the third patent. Early Backus Factory Before (1895-) After (1896+) Backus developed and sold gas engines and a vehicle, but it's the electric fan development that would be most edifying to discover.
