Eck must have packed his bags and jumped a ship back to Sweden in 07.  Goldmark & Wallace split and went their separate ways with Wallace taking over the chair of the Eck Dynamo concern it appears all in the same month of March of 07.

I'm not ready for this yet, so I'll only get started now...

The first Eck patent I know of:

My portion of this thread is going to have to be chronological, only way I can make any sense of it all...

Karl August Ek born 9 Mar 1870 came to the United States Mar 1890; his wife and 6-month-old daughter followed in May 1890--- a smart idea, giving him time to arrange for their comfortable arrival.

Summer of 1891, Gotfried Bergendorf, a mechanic familiar with dairy industry machinery, paid a visit back home.

By the following year, these two were advertising for business...

and in 1893 Eck was in residence in Bloomfield NJ, listed as Charles Ek, machinist, at 593 Bloomfield Ave.

The growing family was resident in Newark for the 1895 census, now three children.

Between 1893 and 1895, something put Charles Eck in touch with and in collaboration with Alfred G. Roth, a resident of Chicago.....

Nice catch!  That was the advice Loren gave me in the early stages of my research, ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE PATENT WITNESSES.  That one slipped right by me. Beeken is Eck's long term shark.

Check out who's name is listed first with the EK..... & Bergendorf advertisement. Check out the mention of PATTERN MAKING-MODEL MAKING. My bet is Eck designed that first 94 Roth & Eck fan motor, and the 95 Roth & Eck as well. Alfred Roth probably got Eck to jump into his fan motor money making plan.  Eck was vested because Alfred Roth's son Charles had to buy Eck out of their firm in late winter of 95.

Loren made mention in past, and no doubt something the Eck descendent he was in contact may have said, that Eck and the Roth's mixed like oil and vinegar. Loren stated the Roth's were a more profit driven organization than quality. Something to that effect.

Bergendorf was on his own in Newark 1905.

FWIW...The Roth's second fan motor with no connection to Eck was introduced for the 99 season.  Roth's plant burned to the ground early 99, they were up and running soon after, but I wonder how many of those fan motors actually hit the market?
