OK, I've been hoarding brass for some time now.

It's the "24k gold" of the fan world...

Behold me treasure..

..But seriously, brass is expensive in my area..

..so I sourced all around and found most out of the scrap heap & electro junk.

Used, yes, but will be put to work building the finest brass mini fans. 😎

PICS:

(Camera can barely handle the shininess-! 😵)

Last one for today...

Using a-bit of imagination..

..I can make out an all brass "candlestick" & beginnings of a loop handle GE

...Progress early this morning 😴... Ugh... Tooling your own badge is quite difficult.

I made mine out of scraps put together, then stamped & color added.

PICS:

Just came off the stove... Still warm in the bowl. (My heat treatment method)

"Bakes" the color I choose into the thin metal, then a quick polish to add shine. Done.

Now I have this badge added to my growing library of mini badges.

(Sorry if PICS look funny, It's so small the zoom maxed out on my camera)

..For those curious, this is my homemade punch:

(PICS)

(Punch is mounted to a screw I found,

The setter rod is an old xacto knife handle,

& The finished badge is made of thin aluminum from a beverage safety seal.)

..and again my camera maxed out on zoom capability, making the PICS appear weird..

I can stamp these out like hotcakes now. 😴

...New this year, "duck-foot" trunnion stick mount fans..🤔

...made of: Old bed springs, scrap metal, jar lid.

Will be of full steel/metal construction (no brass on this one).

Switch at the rear, infinite speed selection (inside the rear "donut" assembly),

DC motor, 2-wire threaded terminal which will be color coded to prevent reversing.

PICS as it is currently:

Amazing work...so meticulous!

Thank-you.. Still expanding fan type & styles...

PICS below show my current & most recent badge added to my fan logo library.

Mostly handmade.

The "setter" is a magnetic speaker core,

a quarter (not seen) supports a "D" size battery terminal stacked on an AC motor stator.

This assembly holds the badge.

Badge is comprised of old telephone equipment, sanded, rounded,

and puzzle-pieced into my setter assembly.

...Smoothing out any imperfections is key...

Not having the tools necessary,

I made my own using an armature, mini motor and a pepper grinder.

Everything together. Whew. 😵

...Used, yes

...cobbled together, yes

...Costly?

No. 😎

...Will paint this up later today.

The material used for stamping is a yogurt container seal.

Cage to be made soon... I already have an idea on the fan build.

...I'm leaning towards a six-blade trunnion. 🤔💡

Or maybe a tab foot, eh... Won't know for sure until its set on a cage & given a blade.

So many ideas, so little time 🙁

Fresh paint:

Letterwork done by "needle point" method.

All while paint on badge is fresh, so no reaction and it all cures one time.

Results and paint used shown in PICS:

Rough build, the larger Western Electric:

Tore apart an air freshener can (scrap metal) for the fan base & blades.

...OK, so I just had to pause for a second when I saw the

"Dreadnought" fan recently... a Beautiful design! 👍😎

Thanks to a helpful picture, I've tried my best to imagine the rest...

...I usually draw first, then get more serious when I have time...

...It will make a great mini fan build.

...oh, I can't wait to test it!! 😵

...just need to fuse a suitable "hub" and the blade will be ready.

...I hope it runs silent and balanced..🤔

Then: on to motor and body work.

'Till next time.

...progress...

...Mini "Tesla" fan...🤔

..The ribbed base was from some sort of lid thing..

...I tore off the handle, cut it out & proceeded to shape & bend the outmost edges..

...Other parts used as size reference..

The test build results:

Vortalex 120volt mini... Soon to be in a trunnion Deco style pedestal fan.

Motor & Blade.

Runs-!

The motor (and blade) came off a poorly designed "Mainstays" 4inch HV fan. 😐

It is quiet and powerful.  My first attempt at a full power (120v) mini fan build.
