Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 29, 2022 Author Posted June 29, 2022 Before: Scrap Brass round with holes I salvaged. ...Had to draw around those holes... PICS tell the story: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted June 29, 2022 Author Posted June 29, 2022 ...Almost there... Coming Soon: The " EmerLex" blade fan by "GEmerson". 🤔 Quote

David Kilnapp Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Very impressive work and quite fanciful! Quote

Going back to the "Dreadnought" fan, this will be considerably larger than my initial test blade shown. Beginning at the motor/shell trunnion assembly for this size... PICS show process... Made of aluminium can & metal salvage. (This version will be a bit different, with some decorative & styling variation.) 🤔 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted July 2, 2022 Author Posted July 2, 2022 ...Getting there... ...After this, the base/trunnion assembly is next.. Then the "real fun" with correct size blade begins. 😵 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 ...whew! ...been awhile since last update... Finally got around to "winging" the "WESTERN ELECTRIC" blades to a suitable hub... ...Not perfect, but it holds together and is my first time with a non-unibody type blade. It is to be powered by a dependable high-torque "500" series 1.5v-9volt tri-pole armature DC motor. It will also have an oscillator, built as a standalone from the main motor... (Oscillator motor is 1.5v-9volt as well). PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 ...Test run, full power (9volts) Runs balanced, but kinda sounds like an "egg-beater" GE... (quoting an old Vornado ad on that one...) ...Vornado never took into account the Vortalex blade, which would run circles around a vornado any day. 😎👍 Hint: can't wait 'till I have the time to wing my first Vortalex blade-! ☺ (non-unibody type... Hopefully, I can design around their known balancing issues..) Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 Fresh cut bases this morning... ..That "POWR-PAKT" fan, in theory, should be an extremely simple/ quick build. 🙂 ...the others.. Not as much. PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 ...I have, quite literally, an army of mini parts... 2 towers worth, going straight to the roof-! 😵😵 ...Now, you can see what all that electro-junk I tear apart becomes... ...Basically, I can build any fan I choose... My only limits to this are: 1.) My imagination... 2.) (...and most annoyingly: Time itself..) 😟 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 ..An idea just occurred to me 💡💡🤔 Further experiments with recycled plastic has yielded promising results... See PICS: (Started with another trash bottle, Cut the bottom off, Melted it using a staggered heating -and- pressure method.) Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 ...Yep, you got it! 👍 I'm making my own isolator disc (for fan or base switch). Just needs some holes drilled and switch mechanism/ hardware added. Hard as a rock, thermally resistant, non-conductive and kinda decorative too... PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 ...Finally, some time to experiment again: This time, I needed a "Skull terminal switch" or keyhole switch. Eh... You'll see what I mean: (PICS) Per usual, it started as plastic from the trash. 😐 Cut out the base... Add some heat... Press it down... You get this: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 To anyone wondering, this is the "press". (A reused glass) 2nd heat, press again, 3rd heat, press again.. Repeat until.. (PICS) Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 ...Alright, where's the "skull terminal switch"?? Getting there: Line Trace, 1st cut, 2nd cleanup cut, sanding required now... PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 21, 2022 Author Posted September 21, 2022 Done (for now). Last PIC is next to my very first one made (the round type). The "skull" switch is for my very own TRI-POD fan build newly in the works... 😎 'Till next time. Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 ...I do be inspired by the recent rash of tripod fans I've seen on the interweb lately... Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 ...wait a minute.. Kitty claimed this idea first.. 🤔 (Now goes to sleep!) 😪😴 Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 ...Emerson... ...Thought I'd try a "clear-view" color version. I'm NOT celebrating just yet... I've still yet to attach the wings.. ..A great time to try this (New to me) glue I found. 🤔💡 I already repaired my plastic sunglasses with it, and it holds. So it (in theory) should work on my plastic blades. "Cures instantly using a special LED light" Will post my results soon. Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 (2) wings done! So far, so good, just 2 to go. Hub adapted to fit a 2mm shaft. (Pressure fit) PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 Well um, PICS tell the story... 😐 I wanted to heat treat the blades, but at this size, the plastic just couldn't take it... Blade warped out & self-destructed... 😵 ...But, no worries! I can turn it into next generation switch/ isolators. 💡😎 Each a unique color and pattern. Also, hard as a rock once cooled. See PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 ...Isolators: Whipped up a fresh batch this morning. (4-6) (Used up all those warped blades to make them) Also, my ready ones (1-3) A great variety of color and pattern has been achieved. There is no shortage of plastic in this world, which makes it an inexpensive and FREE material to be reused for purpose. PICS: Quote
Bejon A. Boranian Posted October 12, 2022 Author Posted October 12, 2022 ...NEW types, NEW color combos.. PICS: Quote
